SPP Accountant II

What you’ll be doing:
- Performs monthly close activities which includes month-end Journal entries for both SPP Canada and SPP US if needed to offset a SPP Canada entries to facilitate two-day close.
- Performs monthly reconciliations on selected balance sheet accounts.
- Creates and maintains ad hoc reports to support business needs and for accounting use.
- Research and help resolve intercompany variances as needed.
- Works with Sales and US Licensing contacts to calculate and pay SPP Canada Royalties.
- Calculate customer rebates for SPP Canada clients and work with appropriate internal teams to complete payout.
- Performs other accounting related responsibilities as assigned.
- Keeps up-to-date with job responsibilities and supports co-workers during periods of time off as they relate to other finance tasks.
- Prepares monthly P&L Deck for SPP Canada SLT meetings
What you bring to the table:
- Good analytical skills with the ability to define and solve issues.
- Self starter who is comfortable working independently, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to effectively meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, comfortable analyzing and calculating on large sets of raw data.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Team Player
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting experience
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area
- Advanced Excel. Intermediate Access. Strong system skills.
- Experience in month-end and year-end general ledger closings.
- Strong computer skills including AS400 and Microsoft Office
