We seek self-motivated individuals earning a degree in Emergency Management, Information Technology (IT), and/or Business Continuity.  You should be passionate about business continuity and/or IT Disaster Recovery.  You will assist our small but mighty Staples Business Resilience team with the development of business continuity and IT Disaster recovery plans to support varying business operations. This role will require an outgoing personality, the ability to communicate with others, and be able to work independently at times.  You will quickly learn and use our business continuity planning software. This intern position requires you to be in a hybrid working model (at least 3 days in the office, and 2 days remote) based at the Staples, Inc. Corporate Headquarters in Framingham, MA. 

Target Start Date: June 2, 2025 - August 15, 2025 (11-week program)

What you’ll be doing:  

• Work with our Business Continuity Manager and Staples’ business units, to document their business continuity strategies and plans, to minimize impacts caused by a variety of business interruptions, which could cause a loss of building, people, technology, and dependent 3rd party vendors.
• Work with our IT Disaster Recovery Manager to create new IT disaster Recovery Plans to support the failover of our varying IT technologies.
• If there is a real crisis event, that impacts Staples operations, you will assist the Business Resiliency Team with the crisis management and recovery of our operations; This will be Hurricane Season after all.

What’s needed - Basic Qualifications:

• Actively pursuing a bachelor's in Emergency Management, Information Technology (IT), Business Continuity, or a related field 
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to learn to use our Business Continuity planning software

What's needed - Preferred Qualifications:

• Enjoy working in teams and being highly communicative
• Able to multi-task and be flexible to new initiatives
