(Remote) Cash Applications Representative I

The Cash Applications Representative I is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of cash receipts, account reconciliations, and troubleshooting payment discrepancies. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues related to customer payments and account balances. The position requires a strong understanding of cash application processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while providing support and training to junior team members.
What you’ll be doing:
- Accurately process daily cash receipts, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Reconcile customer accounts by researching and resolving discrepancies, ensuring accuracy of applied payments.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies by collaborating with customers and internal departments, including Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Customer Service.
- Maintain accurate records of all cash applications and related transactions for audit purposes.
- Assist in month-end closing activities by providing necessary reports and reconciliations.
- Identify and escalate complex issues to appropriate team members or management for resolution.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff, including training on cash application procedures.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend process improvements to enhance cash application efficiency.

Qualifications:
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in cash applications or a related financial position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to accurately process a high volume of transactions.
- Strong understanding of cash application processes and best practices.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, AS400) for cash application processing.
- Experience in a high-volume corporate environment.
- Familiarity with automated cash application tools and technologies.
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
