What you’ll be doing:
The Senior Specialist - Product Quality and Safety is responsible for ensuring that Staples’ own brand products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This role involves working alongside our experts in product quality / safety / regulatory compliance, and risk management to promptly address and resolve potential concerns. The Senior Specialist will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the brand's reputation by ensuring that products are both safe and meet consumer expectations for quality.
- Analyzing quality data to identify opportunities to improve Staples’ own brand products.
- Supporting quality projects to resolve product nonconformance issues and drive continuous improvement. Developing and executing corrective and preventive actions resulting from root cause analysis.
- Collaborating with our Operations, Global Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to resolve internal and external customer issues.
- Creating and maintaining documentation to support the Product Safety Committee.
- Supporting requests for quality data and technical product information.
- Performing hands-on analysis of product returns.
- Supporting early product design reviews.
What you bring to the table:
- Exceptional focus on details, ensuring all products meet the highest standards of quality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, driving initiatives that require input and coordination across multiple departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- High sense of urgency, customer-focus, and takes initiative as a self-starter
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Will be expected to lead cross-functional project teams, providing guidance and expertise on product quality matters.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Product quality assurance, product safety, quality engineering, or a related field. Experience in retail or consumer goods industry is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to product safety (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM, ISO).
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and tools.
- Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with problem solving methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, Reliability, or a related field
- Certification in Quality Assurance or Control (e.g., CQE, CSSGB, or equivalent) or willingness to obtain.
- Advanced knowledge of risk management techniques related to product quality and safety.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
