Overview
The Senior Director for FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) Marketplace is responsible for the growth, management and operations for Staples Fulfilled by Amazon marketplace business. This role if critical to delivering the growth objectives for the Staples Marketplace business and will be responsible for the performance, roadmap, cross-functional partnership and vendor relationship that enable success.
What you’ll be doing
- Growth the FBA marketplace business from $50M concept to $300M business in 2025.
- Lead a cross-functional team responsible for identifying product selection, price and marketing strategy, distribution strategy, inventory support and the ongoing management and optimization of the FBA assortment to accomplish revenue and EBITDA targets. Specifically,
·Product Selection:
* Oversee the selection and assortment of products for FBA, ensuring product selection drives budgeted growth targets. Ramp FBA assortment from 500 ASINs to TBD ensuring positive EBITDA contribution, incremental sales growth, and ongoing vendor support to maintain performance.
* Develop own brand FBA strategy, utilizing our strategic sourcing capabilities to unlock additional competitive advantage and growth opportunities for FBA business
* Pricing and Marketing Strategy: Ensure pricing and marketing levers align with maximizing growth potential and winning the buy box.
* Promotional Planning: Develop strategic FBA promotional offerings during high traffic, promotional and seasonal times of the year. Source deals specific to FBA marketplace supporting growth targets
* Distribution: Advance distribution strategies with vendor partners, building AWD (Amazon Warehouse and Distribution) capabilities to support FBA, improving time to market and cost structure supporting FBA inbound distribution.
* Inventory planning: Work closely with inventory partners to advance planning and inventory support for FBA, monitor fees, demand levers ensuring we enable highest growth potential
What you bring to the table:
- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Negotiation Skills: Proficient in negotiating terms with vendors and suppliers.
- Excellent Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and organizational priorities.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
What’s needed:
- Minimum of 10 years in merchandising, buying, or product management roles.
- Proven experience in developing and executing merchandising strategies.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using tools like Excel.
- Experience in vendor negotiations and relationship management.
- Previous experience supporting third-party marketplace merchandising.
What’s needed: (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in the retail industry, preferably within our specific market segment.
- Familiarity with merchandising software and ERP systems.
