Transportation Analyst II (2 AM EST - 12 PM EST)

Work Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts weekly, with required weekend hours (Sat & Sun, 2 AM–12 PM EST) and two flexible weekdays.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operate the Staples Delivery Command Center for US Delivery Operations, servicing all channels of business.
- Coordinate 400+ nightly line haul deliveries across Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Hubs, and third-party operations throughout the US.
- Monitor nightly line haul operations to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting customer service.
- Provide real-time logistical support for on-time delivery and next-day customer commitments, including adjusting shipping schedules and authorizing expenses when needed.
- Compile accurate nightly operational reports and summarize network volume, issues, and service impact for senior management.
- Support Fleet and Courier delivery locations by resolving delivery paperwork or EDI/AS400 transmission issues.
- Generate and process late trailer information to notify call centers and customers of any delivery delays.
- Standardize and streamline carrier and Fulfillment Center on-time reporting, assist in month-end budget reconciliations, and optimize nightly delivery schedules.
- Contribute to strategic middle-mile initiatives aimed at improving service and reducing expenses.
- Engage in ad hoc analytics opportunities such as trailer utilization optimization, invoice auditing, and financial analysis.
What you bring to the table:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to drive process improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to provide concise daily updates and influence carrier partners.
- Experience working effectively with internal customers, line haul providers, and third-party carriers.
- Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a deadline-driven environment.
- Focus on delivering a positive customer experience and a strong sense of urgency.
- Quick to learn new processes and systems, with eagerness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Proven time management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Advanced analytics knowledge is a plus.
- Availability to cover alternate overnight shifts, approximately 10% of the time.
- Ability to work effectively in an unsupervised, overnight, and fast-paced environment.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of work experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and solve logistical challenges.
- Proficiency with PC applications and Microsoft Office products.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Hands-on experience in transportation or delivery logistics.
- Staples system knowledge (operations) a plus.
- Budget/P&L experience considered an asset.
