Quill Writer and Social Media Intern - June 2026

As Quill’s in-house agency, we are responsible for bringing the Quill brand to life, across all parts of Quill to support the organization in strategizing and delivering striking digital, web, print, and social media content. As we strive to elevate our creative and transform into a world-class agency, we are looking for a Writer and Social Media Intern to join our team to help bring the brand voice to life on our social media channels.  

We are seeking someone who is passionate about storytelling, community building, a stickler for details, and can keep up with the fast pace of social media.

This position is a minimum of 4 days in the office with flexibility for remote work on Fridays. This position is based out of the Quill Corporate facility in Lincolnshire, IL.  

Target Start Date: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (11-week program)

Intern Pay Rate: $21 per hour

What you bring to the table:

You will be joining our Creative Team, receiving mentorship from the team’s Senior Copywriter and Social Media Manager.

You will bring your writing and social media interest, skills, experience, and fresh ideas to support team projects and initiatives for Quill. You will also bring a customer-first mindset, taking ownership over your work to deliver the best user experience. You’re not afraid to respectively challenge an idea when you have the customer’s best interest in mind. And you know that the words are only half of the equation in a creative, so you’ll work closely with the Designers on the team to ensure everything works together seamlessly.  

Lastly, you’re good with time management and meeting deadlines, because you know how fast social media moves – and you have no problem asking questions or communicating blockers to make sure the work gets done right and on time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Learning the Quill brand: Building an understanding of the Quill brand voice and Quill brand social media strategy
  • Writing: Crafting clear, compelling copy for social media posts, balancing writing for the medium of social media with writing for the voice of the brand
  • Community management: Responding to comments, do community outreach, foster relationships with current and potential customers  
  • Trend research: Helping identify trending moments and learn when to apply them to a brand or when to walk away
  • Content creation: Helping capture photos and videos that will be used in social content
  • Concepting: Participating in creative meetings and contributing ideas for campaign concepts
  • Helping execute campaigns: Being a part of bringing company campaigns to life in a social-first way  
  • Content planning: Assisting with editorial calendar management
  • Collaborating: Working with the team, taking and giving feedback, to ensure the best creative output

What’s needed – Basic qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English, Creative Writing, or other related field
  • Must be enrolled as a full time student carrying a minimum of 12 college credits
  • Must be a rising senior graduating in May 2027 or later
  • Strong portfolio or samples of work demonstrating creative thinking, advanced writing skills, and proficiency in digital mediums
  • Any experience with WordPress, Hootsuite, or Figma is a plus

Measures of success:

  • Growth in engagement metrics on Quill's Instagram account
  • Follower growth on Quill's Instagram account
  • Work you’ll be proud to add to your portfolio
