Sr Director of Merchandising, Marketplace

The Senior Director Merchandising is a pivotal role responsible for driving the strategic direction of our Marketplace merchandising unit. This role involves making significant contributions to the formulation and execution of strategies and operating plans.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with marketplace, merchant, and supply chain departments to ensure alignment and efficiency.
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies that align our category merchant organization with rapidly evolving Marketplace opportunities.
- Work closely with data to help drive insights and direction for the team.
- Employ data to drive insights in real time.
- Analyze financial information to make decisions.
- Connects strategies driven by data insights to business operations.
- Consult closely with business partners within the organization.
- Analyze, develop and communicate near and medium-term strategic plan for product lines, considering cross-functional implications, including guiding the team on business plan execution.
- Develop a strategic business plan for each product line to achieve target revenue, margin, market share and inventory goals.
- Develop and approve inventory disposition plans.
- Create innovative market-leading selling strategies leveraging presentation, pricing and promotion inspired by the customer.
- Utilize appropriate resources to gather, analyze, present and act upon data.
- Study the market trends, consumer(s) and competition by subcategory and turn insights into actionable plans to grow the business.
- Construct and drive category marketing and sales programs.
- Create an inclusive team culture and environment which enables every associate to thrive. Develop direct reports and their directs via coaching, stretch assignments, and consistent feedback.
- Responsibilities will evolve as business needs dictate.
What you bring to the table:
- Strong financial acumen.
- Strong communicator: verbal, written, via presentations.
- Ability to objectively interpreting data, extracting insights and linking to strategies.
- Ability to develop direct reports and their directs via coaching, stretch assignments, and consistent feedback.
- Aptitude to anticipate changes and identify alternatives for driving sales in the face of negative trends.
Qualifications:
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- 10 + years relevant experience in merchandising, consulting OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 + years people management experience, motivating teams.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior negotiation experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience executing both data gathering and data analysis.
