Data scientists use statistical modeling to make predictions about future outcomes and in multiple scenarios. They interpret and apply data in analyses, and explain findings to business audiences typically, to improve products and processes. Develops and executes statistical and mathematical analyses to support business decision making for multiple business functions. Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes. Applies analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design and analysis and data mining. Documents projects including business objectives, data gathering and processing, leading approaches, final algorithm, detailed set of results and analytical metrics. Develops materials to explain project findings. Implements activities that generally impact multiple components / processes and the work of own and possibly other units / teams / projects. Typically assigned to strategic / complex undertakings. Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of the professional function and advanced in-depth specialization in some. Participates in developing technical / business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools. Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions. Receives work in the form of short- and mid-term outcomes that regularly require the application of independent judgment and creativity. Mentors less experienced members of the team. May lead projects. Provides guidance regarding analytical approach and iteration of algorithms. Work is subject to management review at defined milestones. Operates within the context of defined operating outcomes.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Mines and analyzes complex and unstructured data sets using advanced statistical, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods methods for use in data driven decision making.
  • Performs research, analysis, and modeling on organizational data.
  • Develops and applies algorithms or models to key business metrics with the goal of improving operations or answering business questions.
  • Provides findings and analysis for use in decision making.
  • Performs work with a high degree of latitude.
  • Handles the most complex issues.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate group.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Collaborative spirit and proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Programming proficiency (Python, R or similar languages).
  • Solid understanding of business dynamics and industry challenges.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively complex related experience in the tools and practice of data science, including statistical modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, with good familiarity in big data frameworks and platforms such as PySpark, Apache Spark, Databricks and Snowflake. 

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale data science projects.
  • Advanced knowledge in a specialized field of data science, such as Deep learning, Large language Models or Natural language processing.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity.  In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
