ApplyCorporate Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping Staples' corporate reputation, building our brand and advancing a culture that enhances the Staples experience for our people and Makes it Easy for customers and external stakeholders to choose Staples. Our team holds primary responsibility for Internal Communications, External Communications, Crisis Management, and Charitable Giving for the enterprise, strengthening the company’s relationships with business stakeholders ranging from employees to customers, the media, and community partners. We deliver Communications counsel, strategies and plans that facilitate profitable revenue growth. Further, our Charitable Giving team plays a critical role in building Staples’ relationships within our communities and with non-profit partners to reinforce Staples’ commitment to making a societal impact and giving back.
You’ll execute the day-to-day operations of the Staples Cause for Caring Fund and Charitable Giving programs, blending program administration, financial stewardship, and creative storytelling to drive associate engagement and reinforce Staples’ reputation as a corporate citizen.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee the end-to-end associate application process for charitable grants: verify eligibility, analyze requests, and recommend approval/denial based on program guidelines.
- Coordinate payment workflows, including applicant notifications, treasury liaison for check processing, and timely payroll deductions.
- Maintain and manage the grant-management system: clean donor records, eliminate duplicates, record gifts, and issue tax receipts within five business days.
- Monitor fundraising KPIs (participation rates, average donations, fund balances) and prepare weekly dashboards for leadership.
- Conduct post-grant analytics on engagement, retention, and demographics to measure impact and identify improvement opportunities.
- Plan and execute fundraising events and awareness campaigns (on-site and virtual), collaborating with internal teams and external community partners to drive year-over-year participation growth.
- Serve as the in-house subject-matter expert on giving programs, advising stakeholders on best practices and compliance.
- Create, write, and deploy multi-channel communications (email, intranet, digital signage, video scripts) to promote giving and volunteerism.
- Support broader Corporate Communications projects and efforts, including crafting content and providing event logistics and on-site coordination support, as needed.
- Assist in developing quarterly Board presentation decks summarizing grants awarded, fundraising campaigns, deduction trends, and ROI metrics. Draft ad-hoc reports for Board members, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations and company policies.

What’s needed – Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 1 plus years of professional experience in charitable giving, corporate social responsibility, communications, or related fields.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel pivot tables, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Experience using a CRM or grant-management system to track donations and produce reports.
- Proven ability to draft professional communications for diverse audiences.
- Skilled in analyzing large datasets (≥5,000 rows) and translating findings into actionable business insights.
What’s needed – Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with IRS 501(c)(3) regulations and payroll-deducted donation compliance.
- Hands-on experience with Marketo, DonationXChange, Blackbaud, Salesforce NPSP, or similar platforms.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
