The Senior Manager, Data & Analytics will lead the strategy, execution, and continued evolution of enterprise data and analytics capabilities. You will oversee a team of analytics professionals responsible for turning complex data into actionable business insights, performance measurement frameworks, self-service reporting solutions, experimentation analysis, and strategic recommendations.
In this highly visible role, you will combine people leadership, analytical expertise, business acumen, and operational execution to help drive measurable growth, efficiency, and customer outcomes This is an opportunity to shape the future of analytics for Staples' digital business, influencing strategy, customer experience, and growth through data-driven decision making.
You will partner closely with business and technology leaders to ensure data assets, reporting, and analytics capabilities are scalable, governed, accurate, and aligned with business priorities. This role is based in Framingham, Massachusetts and reports to the Director, Digital Analytics.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise analytics programs, including business performance measurement, KPI management, reporting and dashboard strategy, experimentation analysis, and discovery analytics.
- Partner with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into measurement frameworks, analytical roadmaps, data requirements, and actionable recommendations.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and adoption of scalable analytics solutions, self-service reporting capabilities, and governed data assets.
- Direct data quality, governance, and metric standardization efforts in partnership with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams.
- Establish analytics operating rhythms, prioritization frameworks, and stakeholder engagement processes that balance immediate business needs with long-term capability development.
- Lead advanced analytical initiatives, including customer behavior analysis, performance optimization, segmentation, forecasting, experimentation measurement, and trend identification.
- Manage analytics technology platforms and tools supporting reporting, visualization, data warehousing, and scalable insight generation.
- Present findings, recommendations, risks, and opportunities to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, influencing business decisions and investment priorities.
- Champion a data-driven culture by promoting analytical best practices, measurement discipline, and the adoption of insights across the business.
- Drive continuous improvement across analytics processes, reporting effectiveness, automation, and organizational efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of analytics professionals while establishing performance expectations, career development plans, and succession strategies.
- Manage workforce planning, hiring, talent development, performance management, work prioritization, and resource allocation for the analytics function.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture centered on accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and business partnership.
- Partner directly with senior leaders across Digital, Marketing, Merchandising, Product, Customer Experience, Technology, and Finance to shape strategic decisions and business outcomes.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Science, Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in digital analytics, ecommerce analytics, business analytics, data analytics, marketing analytics, or a related domain.
- 3+ years of management experience leading, coaching, and developing analytics professionals or individuals in related roles.
- Proven expertise in analytics tools, digital analytics methodologies, and data-driven measurement practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team, establish clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and foster continuous learning and development.
- Proven experience driving data-informed decisions and translating analytical findings into business recommendations.
- Experience using digital, ecommerce, marketing, customer experience, or omnichannel data to measure performance, diagnose trends, and identify opportunities.
- Experience communicating analytical insights, recommendations, and risks to business stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Strong experience with SQL and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
- Experience partnering with Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering teams to define requirements, validate data, improve pipelines, and establish governed reporting layers.
- Experience with experimentation methods, including A/B testing, pre/post analysis, test design, success-metric definition, and experiment readouts.
- Experience building or governing KPI frameworks, semantic data models, curated datasets, source-of-truth reporting, or metric-definition standards.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or similar reporting and visualization platforms.
- Proven experience leading experimentation analysis, A/B testing programs, or advanced measurement frameworks.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business, Marketing, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Databricks or a similar cloud data platform.
- Familiarity with advanced experimentation and measurement methods such as Bayesian approaches, CUPED, synthetic controls, multi-armed bandits, or similar techniques.
- Experience with AI-enabled analytics, automated reporting, anomaly detection, or machine learning use cases.
- Experience implementing data governance programs, metric standardization initiatives, or enterprise reporting transformations.
- Experience supporting executive leadership teams and influencing strategic business decisions through analytics

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
