The Senior Manager, Business Resilience leads enterprise-wide crisis preparedness, response, and recovery activities to safeguard Staples’ people, customers, operations, and brand. As the Enterprise Crisis Team Lead, you will coordinate cross-functional teams—including Crisis Management, Business Continuity, IT Disaster Recovery, Security Operations, and key partners—to ensure our organization is resilient in the face of disruptions. You’ll oversee critical resiliency programs and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, training, and exercises. This is a high-visibility role that requires decisive leadership, executive presence, and the ability to inspire confidence during complex events.
What you’ll be doing:
Build and maintain strong partnerships across business units, IT, Security, Legal, HR, Communications, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure seamless crisis response.
Lead annual crisis preparedness activities, including readiness reviews, dependency mapping, and scenario planning.
Oversee Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity (BC), and IT Disaster Recovery (DR) programs to align with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the primary coordinator and leader during large-scale or complex crisis events, facilitating rapid decision-making and executive communications.
Design and conduct crisis simulations and tabletop exercises to validate team readiness and interdependencies.
Develop and track corrective action plans, ensuring remediation and continuous improvement across the enterprise.
Define and manage crisis management training for critical roles and stakeholders, updating materials to reflect evolving threats.
Provide functional leadership and guidance to Crisis Captains and resiliency partners, fostering a culture of preparedness and operational excellence.
What you bring to the table:
Strong leadership presence and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with sound judgment in ambiguous or time-sensitive situations.
Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups, even without direct authority.
High degree of resilience, adaptability, and situational awareness.
Excellent facilitation and meeting leadership skills for executive and cross-functional audiences.
Proven track record of leading enterprise-level incident or crisis response initiatives and driving measurable improvements in resiliency.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Business, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Information Technology, Security, or a related field.
8 + years of progressively responsible experience in crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery, security operations, or related operational risk disciplines.
3 + years of people management or enterprise program leadership experience.
Demonstrated experience overseeing Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity programs.
Leading cross-functional teams and executive-level discussions during high-pressure situations.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
Experience partnering with IT to manage or influence disaster recovery strategy and execution.
Experience leading crisis simulations or enterprise-wide tabletop exercises.
Experience working closely with security operations centers or emergency response organizations.
Background in highly regulated, large-scale, or geographically distributed enterprises.
Proven ability to develop corrective action plans and drive measurable improvement in resiliency metrics.
Professional certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, ISO 22301, CISSP, CISM, or similar are highly desirable.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
