The Senior Financial Analyst is a leadership track role that is dedicated to providing sales and margin and P&L forecasting and planning in support of the hyper growing Staples Marketplace business. The Senior Analyst will soon become a trusted business partner, capable of delivering analytical support and performance insights to the leaders of our business unit. 

Our team works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and in order to be successful in this role, the Senior Analyst will need to have a multitude of talents: a confident self-starter with an eye for detail, the ability to prioritize work-streams, the desire to establish strong working relationships with the business unit leaders they support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for providing accurate and timely daily, weekly, and monthly sales, margin, and gross profit reporting and forecasting for the Marketplace business at a Marketplace storefront and product category detailed level.
  • Assist in the monthly book close process including reporting of month-end P&L results by Marketplace, providing variance analysis for key metrics, and helping to build out monthly business review presentations.
  • Perform monthly forecasting and analysis of Headcount and Operating expenses and identify risks and opportunities to EBITDA
  • Build annual Sales and Margin and full P&L Budgets using initiatives from business leaders.
  • Provide general and ad hoc analytical support for the business and proactively identify and communicate key performance trends that may impact results.
  • Serve as a Finance thought leader – build financial models that can predict outcomes reliably and accurately.
  • Continually search for process improvements and opportunities to streamline and automate within all reporting and analyses using tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, and PowerBI.

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and communicate with high level business partners.
  • Experience in forecasting/budgeting and performing financial analysis of results.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to create partnerships across business teams.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Experience with advanced analytical tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and Alteryx.
  • Thrives in a constantly changing environment and has the ability to think outside the box.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, data analysis or equivalent experience. 
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytics or finance related field.
  • Previous experience with analysis, including working with large data sets.

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Oracle Systems, Power BI, Essbase Financial Systems.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with SQL.
