The Director of Sourcing, IT is responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for the organization, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives. This role involves leading the sourcing team, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing the supply chain to achieve cost savings, quality, and efficiency. The Director of Sourcing works closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and finance, to drive strategic sourcing initiatives that support the company's growth and competitive positioning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and refine enterprise wide sourcing strategies that result in enhanced value, revenue, breakthrough total-cost reduction and continuous improvement.
- Develop a strategy for procurement with the core stakeholders, with appropriate regional and subcategory nuances.
- Develop technology sourcing approaches (including RFI/RFP and negotiations) to drive a sustainable competitive advantage and concentrate spend with key suppliers in support of business unit and shared service group strategies.
- Potentially proactively manage IT third-party expenditures and the associated key suppliers to create P&L impacting value and aggressively pursue annual cost reduction targets.
- Proactively engage with business leaders and the Business Unit Lead (likely an SLT member) to understand, create alignment and help achieve their business strategies and objectives.
- Proactively conduct market-intelligence activities. a. Perform industry, supply market and supply chain research/ analytics. b. Uncover trends and best practices in category sourcing and outsourcing. c. Share knowledge, insight and advice in a way that contributes to long-term business strategies.
- Lead the overall selection, negotiation and contracting process for suppliers, liaising with legal on contract creation and execution.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement appropriate supplier-management processes to drive selected IT suppliers toward world-class performance. Serve as a liaison for the supplier relationship management program.
- Develop, track and report on appropriate category performance metrics to provide credible input to the corporate budgeting process.
- Lead, motivate and develop your team members and demonstrate leadership with the entire group at all times.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years strategic procurement experience or other relevant experience, IT services etc would be preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role, leading a sourcing or procurement team, is required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sourcing strategies.
- Strong negotiation skills with a history of achieving cost savings and favorable contract terms.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and driving supplier performance improvements.
- Proficiency in sourcing and procurement software tools and systems.
Knowledge of industry regulations and ethical sourcing practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills – able to analyze and interpret data to create effective strategies.
- Superior oral- and written-communications skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to shift priorities and manage changing demands with a sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as reporting and analysis tools.
- Strong commitment to career and professional maturity; able to lead others, function autonomously as well as part of a team.
- Ability to “take the ball and run” with minimal direction.
- [i]Demonstrated understand of best practice category management, sourcing, and procurement.
- Experience with eSourcing tools and spend management tools.
- Demonstrated senior executive work as well as stakeholder relationship management and networking skills.
- Working knowledge of IT Products and Services such as hardware and software.
