Position Summary

The Summer Intern is responsible for overseeing and executing on a 3-month project in the Fulfillment Center. This position requires learning our WMS system, creating and executing on a process to accomplish the project.  This also requires a high degree of communication and collaboration between departments and department leaders.  This position will update local leadership on the progress of the project through periodic touch base meetings and frequent interaction to ensure its completion prior to the Intern’s end day.  The Summer Intern will support the building’s operational excellence and the facility’s all-around success by completing this important project.

This intern position requires you to be on-site at the Fulfillment Center in Denver, CO.

Target Start Date: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (11-week program)  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Learn the systems required (MAWM in particular) to ensure the correct information is being used
  • Develops and executes daily and weekly action plans
  • Makes improvements to project processes and procedures and communicates with associates on changes and updates SOP as necessary
  • Understands all safety procedures; ensures safe work practices are followed and maintains a safe work environment. Consult with leaders and associates to immediately address safety concerns
  •  Ensures communication and teamwork among the team to aid in the accomplishment of the project objectives
  • Looks for ways to improve and maintain engagement within the scope of the project
  •  Ensure that all Company and HR Policies and Practices are followed. Consults with Supervisor/Manager as needed
  •  Starts to understand leadership competencies for emotional intelligence, team effectiveness, operational excellence, and associate engagement
  • Acts as a Corporate Citizen, representing the FC and Staples in a positive and professional manner
  • Attend weekly meetings as invited to learn about Staples and its value proposition to the Intern

What’s Needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain or a related field 
  • Must be a rising junior enrolled as a full-time student carrying a minimum of 12 college credits 
  • Eagerness and ability to learn, absorb new information quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated responsibility and leadership ability
  •  Strong oral and written communication skills
  •  Be the owner/driver of your learnings: job skills, processes, procedures and relevant job knowledge
  •  Possess a sense of urgency required to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Initiative to work with minimal instruction and direction
  • Knowledge of PC applications
  • Understanding of warehouse systems, processes and productivity standards (WMS, computerized systems, SPC – statistical process control – and related ability to recognize, articulate and address variances in processes) a PLUS
