Staples Promotional Products leads the industry with design expertise, best in class technology and inspiring creativity.  SPP offers hundreds of customizable products – from coolers to notebooks – that allow companies to maximize brand recognition and reach thousands of people at a low cost.

What you’ll be doing: 

This position is an integral component of the Staples Promotional Products’ digital and marketing eco-system, responsible for enabling budgeted sales and margin through staplespromo.ca, as well as brand marketing materials. Main responsibilities include developing and executing a customer-centric product strategy in tandem with the Marketing Manager, Digital Marketing.  Manager and Senior Digital Marketing Specialists. This strategy will be inspired by customer insight and market data, and will include assortment planning, supplier negotiation, trend execution and .ca on-site shopping experience.

  • Responsible for enabling our annual revenue and margin goals for .ca and brand marketing materials, in partnership with the Digital Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager.
  • Responsible for curating the online product collection for staplespromo.ca.
  • Responsible for curating the brand marketing merchandise collections.
  • Responsible for meeting vendor placement KPIs to drive vendor rebate growth for SPP.
  • Responsible for achieving on-site KPIs as established by the Digital Marketing Manager in partnership with the eCommerce team (e.g. RPV, AOV and CVR).
  • Responsible for increasing customer retention metrics by ensuring the product collections meet customer requirements.
  • Influences the perception of SPP with product ideas that are distributed and shared with the SPP Customers and target audience.
  • Works with the digital team to help define a competitive product strategy to compete in the eCommerce promotional marketplace and a supports the overall Staples Promotional Products strategy.
  • Negotiates with suppliers.

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong “business” communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders and support functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize projects based on business need and timelines.
  • Requires a self-motivated and energetic personality.
  • Solid PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated project management and collaboration skills. Teamwork and flexibility are essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure. Must demonstrate good judgment in all aspects.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide product recommendations that support the overarching strategy of a business.
  • Strong knowledge of product merchandising, industry trends and regulations.
  • Knowledge and ability to leverage internal resources and relationships in order to independently move projects to completion.

Qualifications:

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant work experience in product marketing, merchandising or related field
  • 3+ years experience planning, managing and executing successful product ideas that impact business goals

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
