Our commitment to I&D

 
We believe that our employees are the key to our overall business success. We are committed to integrating inclusion and diversity (I&D) into everything we do. That commitment extends from embedding I&D into our processes for attracting, retaining and engaging top talent to enhancing customer and supplier partnerships through strategic focus on I&D. Our aim is to ensure that our company reflects the diverse populations we serve, support, and employ. By doing this work we better position ourselves for future success.

At Staples, strategic inclusion action planning is embedded into our overarching business strategy. Execution of our I&D framework is supported by a dedicated I&D team, established I&D metrics and tracking, inclusive leadership development, a variety of learning initiatives, a bi-monthly employee-led social justice video series, an Inclusion & Diversity Resource Center available to all employees, a robust supplier diversity program and 10 business resource groups. In addition, we are a signatory to the equal pay pledge, through CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion and we participate in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. Staples has consistently achieved high scores on the index since we began participating over 10 years ago.
 

Business Resource Groups

Staples Business Resource Groups (BRGs) play an important role in supporting and sustaining our commitment to I&D. BRGs are open to all employees and each represents a group that has historically been underrepresented in corporate settings.

Our BRGs were established to provide an open forum for employees to connect on issues that are important in our communities and learn from one another. BRG members work together on a voluntary basis with the purpose of supporting employees, creating networking opportunities, aligning with Staples I&D strategy, and improving our connection with our communities and customers.

​​​​​​​BRGs serve as internal resources to support employee engagement and additional business activities such as recruitment/talent acquisition, leadership development, product development, marketing, corporate branding, and community relations. BRGs provide a sense of community within the workplace, offer a forum for members to discuss relevant challenges and opportunities, and enable joint efforts on common areas of interest.

All Abilities empowers and advocates for associates directly or indirectly impacted by physical & intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions as they navigate the work environment. We provide educational resources related to physical & intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions.

HOLA activates the unique strengths, views and experiences of Hispanic and Latinx associates to spark innovation, deliver insights on target markets, accelerate our associates' professional development and contribute to Staples' business goals.

Mosaic is dedicated to enriching the Black communities in which we live and
work. Our mission is to help advance Staples Inclusion & Diversity efforts by focusing specially on the recruitment, retention and development of Black associates.

and allies of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning
(LGBTQ) community. The group functions
as a trusted advisor to the business from
an LGBTQ perspective and an advocate

The Pan Asian Resource Group establishes
​​​​​​​an active presence of the Asian-American community at Staples through continued dialogue on the rich diversity and complexity of the Asian-American experience. We give a voice to Asian Americans by sharing stories that represent their unique experiences.
