The Commercial and Enterprise Strategic Account Specialist (SAS) will be responsible for building relationships within Staples’ new and existing Commercial and Enterprise ship to locations. The SAS will specifically target the individuals responsible for purchasing by utilizing key selling tools to grow and retain assigned accounts.  The SAS will leverage these relationships to grow sales profitably through increased compliance with existing Staples’ programs, driving improved operational efficiency and through the introduction of new commodity categories.     
The SAS will be responsible for contacting their assigned customer locations via phone and email on a regular basis in order to continue to provide convenience of procurement through Staples.    
Perform all Strategic Account Specialist duties including, but not limited to:     
  • Mine and manage customer specific opportunities using reports, Business Intelligence tools and referrals
  • Driving incremental both core and Beyond Office Supplies sales growth through direct contact with assigned customers     
  • Improving compliance by single sourcing through Staples     
  • Introducing new products and services   
  • Train/educate customers on program offerings and best practices that reduce the cost of delivering office products      
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs summarizing all customer contacts in Saleforce.com    
  • Effectively communicate value in addition to features and benefits
  • Partner with Strategic Account Leaders to leverage a customer’s program selling opportunities
  • Engage Category Specialists in selling opportunities of appropriate size and levels of complexity
  • Be able to successfully engage in balancing multiple time sensitive tasks through the use of good time management, prioritization and organizational skills.    

  • High school diploma or GED  
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook  
  • College degree  preferred
  • At least 1 year successful sales experience  and/or higher education sales training
  • Ability to articulately sell company values and services, in addition to program features and benefits via phone and internet  
  • Proven self-starter with energy and motivation to uncover, develop and close sales  
  • Must be result-oriented and driven by both financial and career opportunities  
  • Demonstrated strong time management skills  
  • Strong relationship building skills  
  • Knowledge of product, pricing, competition and sales objectives  
  • Ability to sell multiple buyer levels within small to large-sized customers  
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced organization that changes to continuously improve the customer experience
