We are searching for our next Director of Engineering – eCommerce 
This individual partner with both the business and technical teams to innovate and deliver new features and enhancements for the Global ecommerce platform.  This position focuses on providing eCommerce and related technology expertise and thought leadership on design, architecture, and platform build out of the customer facing/on-line support business solutions.
This position leads directors, managers and engineers and interacts with other cross functional teams like Product Management, Project Management, Release Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations teams etc. to develop innovative solutions that meet eCommerce market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build a strong technology organization by hiring the top talent and focus on individual growth
  • Provide architectural strategy and guidance to business and product owners during the initial brainstorming sessions
  • Champion the platform strategy in moving applications from legacy systems into open source technologies in the cloud
  • Build highly reliable, scalable micro services that can support many businesses/customers in a cross-channel/cross-device environment
  • Accountable for all activities and results of a broad functional area or multiple smaller functions
  • Ensure that performance standards are realistically set and attained
  • Provide leadership and direction and recommends strategy for area managed. Recommends course of action to VPs for approval on matters affecting the organization managed
  • Strong technical depth and vision for ecommerce into developing the next generation platforms for scalability/reliability
  • Focus on Innovation and how to enable/motivate the team in bringing in tech focus and experimenting ideas
  • Actively participate with VPs in establishing recommended organization structure for area managed, and developing organizational capability needed to execute strategy
  • Establish organizational procedures and plans, consistent with company policy
  • Require cross-functional relationships, communication and negotiation. Organizational awareness to effect results by maneuvering through appropriate organization channels
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies and the company' s goals in addition to industry knowledge
  • Practice strategic and transformational leadership while actively molding culture

Required Skills:

  • 15+ years’ experience in a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree or 12 years’ experience in a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience at an ecommerce company
  • 10+ years’ experience building and leading a high performing organization. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience 
  • 5+ years of financial responsibility against a sizeable budget.

  • Strong analytical, data-driven decision making and problem-solving skills, with attention to details
  • Ability to navigate large organizations, develop strong business partner relationships and build network
  • Outstanding influencing, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills 
  • Open source technologies, public/private cloud technologies.
  • Self-starter, high-energy, with ability to execute on business objectives 
  • Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills
