The Digital Asset Manager is a member of our newly created Marketing Operations practice at Staples. Marketing Operations is a key function that helps to select, implement, manage and govern best in class Marketing technology solutions for Staples. 

This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and driving cross-department adoption of Staples Digital Asset Management solution used for the storage and utilization of all digital content.

The Digital Asset Manager will work with all content producing departments to ensure timely, and systematic storage of all produced digital assets. This includes creating the right nomenclature, storage hierarchies and tagging in a system that will also display information about usage rights, permissions, and historical use. In addition to organizing and storing current assets, the Digital Asset Manager will own, manage and optimize the workflows tied to their production process.  

Key Job Responsibilities:
• Establish Staples content management strategy and roadmap – manage creation, development, integration of content management system capabilities in accordance
• Develops and maintains product documentation, user workflows, and policies
• Leads user training and provides for user assistance with all aspects of the DAM system
• Leverages experience, judgement, and knowledge base of digital asset management tools & best practices
• Monitors & analyzes metrics to inform users, stakeholders, and perpetual process improvements 
• Maintain metadata and taxonomy models, evaluate possible changes on an ongoing basis
• Understand and enforce legal issues around asset use.
• Keeps Staples DAM utilization ahead of the curve by keeping current on best practices and innovations
• Develops and executes a communication/socialization plan to drive awareness of the DAM, gain buy-in, and ensure 100% user acceptance 
• Plans system customizations, upgrades, integrations, testing & maintenance
• Builds strong relationships across vendor partners and agency partners to ensure compliance with little cost/interruption to Staples
• Partners in identifying needs among the vendor, agency network
• Develops & retains a team of one to two junior associates.
• Builds strong relationships across internal teams to drive acceptance and compliance.
• Partners in identifying needs for content management capabilities and solution enhancements across the enterprise

Key Performance Indicators:
• Acceptance of taxonomy & compliance with DAM guidelines
• Volume of assets ingested into DAM as well as utilized via the DAM
• User NPS on training, process documentation


Education/Experience Equivalent:

• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required.

• Able to manage digital media, including images, PDFs, audio and video.

• Experience with creating a metadata schema.

• Experience with asset storage and organization, creating naming and tagging systems for both digital and analog assets.

• Demonstrated success in planning, organizing and directing multiple projects and activities; keen attention to detail along with effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Deep understanding of asset creation & design process.

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of workflow management needed to lead the development and implementation of workflow system for the marketing organization.

• Advanced experience with databases as well as solid knowledge of digital content formats and standards.

• Familiarity with web publishing and content management systems best practices/standards.

Professional Knowledge/Experience:

• 7+ Years of digital asset management and content experience ideally in a retail/eCommerce setting or agency setting.

• Deep expertise required in DAM implementation, specifically transition from no-DAM to DAM 

• Familiarity with cloud-based digital asset management software such as Widen, direct experience with Bynder a plus!

• Proven track record of collaborating and building consensus across teams, both internal and external

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders in a rapidly changing and deadline-driven environment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff; highly developed writing skills needed to synthesize information for management reports and presentations.
