Position Summary:


As our product assortment continues to change and we work to move customers to purchasing specific product, analytics and processes are needed to shift the demand from one item to another, highlighting those products that we want our customer to purchase and ensuring that our customers have suitable replacements for discontinued products.  This position is responsible for identifying, recommending, influencing and executing the necessary steps to ensure those items are prominently displayed and highlighted to our customers resulting in a high conversion rate and improved margins.  Partnership with Product Merchants, Inventory Management, and Pricing will b of the great importance, aligning across all cross functional areas that support our product assortment.  The position is also responsible in supporting those concepts and strategies across all acquisitions and newly acquired customers.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic Merchant category reviews with the intent of understanding the category, vendors, and strategies.  Robust reviews should identify gaps in alternate item recommendations taking into account product cost, list, and sell price.  Execute to those recommendations, shifting demand to those products we want our customer to purchase.  Special focus should be placed on high volume items that have been removed from the assortment, reducing the number of times customers are ‘dead ended’ when searching for specific products.
  • Trend, tracing and results analysis focused on conversion rates, sales, and margin resulting in the necessary corrections and adjustments to reach desired results.  Creation and management of analytics tools/databases utilized to drive and analyze all Demand Shift programs.
  • Manage the various processes used to shift demand, across all ordering platforms and methodologies.  Identify variances, in both sku level detail and functionality, partnering cross functionally with Merchants, Supply Chain, Pricing, Marketing, and SDS to ensure an on-going, positive customer experience.
  • Initiate, create, and distribute cross functional reporting, communicating demand shift activities in support of in-stock positions, customer contract updates, and overall sales and margin results.
  • As the subject matter expert, this position is responsible for Merchant training, producing and communicating all operating processes and training documents as needed.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3 – 5 years Operational experience
  • Past experience working with large datasets
  • Understanding of merchandising and operations
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills with ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving activities
  • Ability to provide supervision and direction to associates and peers
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Tool Suite with focus on MS Excel and MS Access
