The Pricing Specialist is a member of Staples Promotional Products Brand Pricing Operations Team that is responsible for developing and maintaining product pricing for SPP’s entire portfolio of program contract clients whose annual sales exceeds $300 Million.
This associate supports SPP’s Margin Program Manager, Account Services Management teams, and Field Sales Management and is integral in assisting those teams achieve margin and profitability goals by ensuring that the pricing for each client’s product selection is properly developed, executed and is in compliance with the terms & conditions in client legal-contracts.
By accurately maintaining the pricing and margin integrity of the product selection throughout the client relationship, the associate assists SPP in the retention of their extensive and diverse client base.
This associate must be an analytical thinker & problem solver; and be able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities frequently shift.
This position also collaborates with a variety of cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, verification of product set up and accuracy of cost configuration in relationship to item pricing guidelines, generation of pricing matrices to assist Management with price and margin comparisons, and order testing of client websites to ensure a seamless shopping experience upon implementation.
Collaborative business partners include Account Services Managers and Sr. Managers, Margin Program Manager, Merchandising Managers and team members, Special Order Managers and team members, Book and Go Managers and team members, Inventory Operations Manager, and Inventory Analysts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position works directly with the Manager, Brand Pricing Operations, Margin Program Manager, Merchandising Managers, Account Services Managers and Sr. Managers across all business units and is responsible for developing, analyzing and executing final pricing of product selection for an assigned group of 30 – 60+ SPP clients. Annual sales for the associate’s assigned account base are approximately $10 - 50 Million and growing.
The associate is responsible for ensuring that pricing is in compliance with the client’s legal-contract. Projects may consist of 1 – 300+ items in product selection per project, with an average of 125+ projects annually.
Pricing development is inclusive of all components such as rebates and royalties, which ensures accurate accrual and facilitates proper remittance by SPP Finance. The associate also performs an analysis of all price and margin variances to estimated prices of new products, and current prices of existing products. Applicable pricing alternatives are developed and recommended to ensure that product prices and margins remain in alignment with SPP’s policy guidelines and the client’s contract.

Contribute to the generation of new and/or an increased sales volume by collaborating with cross-functional teams and Management to facilitate timely project completion and activation of product selection and pricing on new and existing client websites and/or print catalogs.
Coordinate AS400 final pricing implementation with Account Services Management and independently perform activities that make products in item selection ready for the purchase of inventory and order processing.
This associate is responsible for timely execution of all mid-year adjustments to client pricing and rebate/royalty structure in accordance with Amendments to the client’s contract.
Assist Account Services and Inventory Management teams to reduce on-hand obsolete inventory expense by developing and executing discounts for product selections for inventory closeouts or liquidation, audits item pricing for margin integrity, presents and recommends alternative price configurations as necessary.
This associate is responsible for independently managing a high volume of projects simultaneously, executing them accurately and within specified project lead times.
This associate supports SPP’s company-wide margin initiative by proactively auditing margin and cost change reports, identifying item margins below client target margin goal and reprices items in accordance with client’s contract.
Develops and provides ad hoc margin and pricing analysis for Margin Program Manager and Account Services Management as requested.
This associate is responsible for understanding and executing all aspects and activities related to client website payment methods, order processing, and shipping functionality.
