The Project Manager on the Staples Internal Audit SOX team is responsible for SOX testing, as well as coordination with external auditors and IT process owners.  The Project Manager should have a strong working knowledge of multiple business processes and areas of technology.

  • Assist management with meeting coordination, follow-up, presentations, and documentation
  • Continue to stay apprised of all new SOX compliance guidelines and interpretations
  • Test operating effectiveness of SOX technology controls
  • Coordinate and maintain SOX documentation
  • Compliance testing, documentation of findings, and development of corrective action plan
  • Assess the operational effectiveness of key controls and recommend changes when appropriate
  • Work with external auditors and third party consultants on compliance testing
  • Validate appropriate test procedures and plans are in place for in scope systems
  • Ensure SOX testing for in scope systems is executed in accordance with the SOX Compliance Program
  • External and Internal liaison for in scope SOX systems 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5+ years’ experience in a technical environment
  • Experience in SOX compliance for technology systems preferred
  • Working understanding of operational risks and related controls
  • Masters certification in related field and/or PMI PMP certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflicting needs of stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills required with the ability to manage and champion all aspects of process and cultural change
  • Ability to quickly establish and maintain partner relationships at all levels across the organization
  • Skills include strong business acumen and strategic thinking to complement strong tactical execution skills
  • Consulting skills / influencing skills
  • Experience conducting & tracking audits both internally and in a customer-facing role
  • Strong project management and detailed execution skills
  • Communicates well under stress and with a wide variety of personalities and levels
  • Experience and desire to educate internal teams and evolve capabilities over time
  • Ability to deal with complexity, and stays current with evolving and emerging technology trends crafting future strategy
  • Strong skills in time management, problem solving, written and oral communication
