Position Summary:

Staples is the #2 web business in sales volume in North America and Staples Advantage is the largest of all of our online businesses. In support of our Corporate Strategy, Staples is making aggressive investments to push Staples eCommerce to new levels in desktop, mobile and omni-channel commerce.

The Associate Product Manager, Onsite Search will join a growing eCommerce team tasked with planning, managing and operating Staples eCommerce sites. The vision for this team is to bring world-class eCommerce expertise to the Staples business, to drive increased online sales and have a tremendous impact on the business unit and on Staples as a whole.

This position represents an ideal role for candidates with a strong analytical background and/or those with 5 or more years of hands on analytical experience (either in a work environment or graduate school) who can successfully analyze large data sets and develop recommendations. Given the highly strategic and cross-functional nature of this role, successful applicants will possess a combination of structured strategic thinking and collaboration skills, along with strong analytical ability and a passion for new ideas.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively develop and maintain strategic plans for the Onsite Search & Navigation user experience of Staples global web properties.
  • Define customer experience
  • Communicate the strategy and product road maps
  • Provide insights from customer needs
  • Support your recommendations using data & analytics
  • Drive broad organizational engagement in initiatives through
  • Passionate, inspired thought leadership
  • Building strong internal relationships across all business units
  • Regularly, impactful communication of progress and impact
  • Collaboratively manage and understand key Onsite Search & Navigation analytics
  • Help define key performance indicators (financial and customer)
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve the user experience leveraging all available insights
  • Provide insights to cross-channel and cross-functional teams on usage, impact for continuous improvement
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of analytical experience (combination of work and graduate school)
Preferred
  • Advanced degree in quantitative or data science field
  • Experience with search & guided navigation tools or technology for e.g. SOLR/Lucene, Qubit, Tableau, MongoDB
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
  • Demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results
  • Customer-centric orientation with proven track-record of developing and acting on customer insights
  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans
  • Proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude and ability to get results with a cross-functional team
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate to the senior executive levels
