Staples Business Advantage is seeking inside sales professionals with a preferred minimum of one year of telephone/inside sales and account management experience to work with our high-volume customers. As a Membership Consultant, you will pitch, close, and renew memberships for both new and existing Staples customers. You will identify and target the individuals responsible for decision-making and purchasing by utilizing key selling tools. You should expect to proactively maintain a high outbound contact volume and sell to multiple buyer levels within small to large-sized customers to meet target objectives.

Perform all Membership Consulting duties including, but not limited to:

·       Mining and managing customer specific opportunities using reports, business intelligence tools, and referrals 

·       Training/educating customers on program offerings and best practices that reduce the cost of delivering office products
Introducing new products and services to customers 

·       Effectively communicating value in addition to features and benefits over the phone to customers

·       Driving adoption and renewal of assigned membership programs with assigned customers 

·       Maintaining accurate and up-to-date logs summarizing all customer contacts in Saleforce.com

·       Successfully balancing multiple time sensitive tasks through the use of good time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

·       Consistently meet established goals for sales, margin, and daily activities

·       Establish a positive rapport to ensure customer loyalty when welcoming new customers into membership programs

·       Assisting customers with common non-membership requests that may arise


• High school diploma or GED
• Proficiency in Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong English-language phone and email communication skills

• College degree preferred
• At least 1 year successful sales experience and/or higher education sales training
• Knowledge of product, pricing, competition, and sales objectives
• Ability to articulately sell company values and services, in addition to program features and benefits, via phone and internet
• Proven self-starter with energy and motivation to uncover, develop, and close sales
• Must be result-oriented, driven by both financial and career opportunities
• Demonstrated time management skills
• Strong relationship building skills
• Ability to quickly identify decision-makers and influencers within small to large-sized customers
• Willingness to embrace change and growth
• Knowledge of email marketing and social media a plus
• Experience with Salesforce preferred, but not required
• Results orientation, competitive spirit, positive attitude, curiosity, strong work ethic, highly self-motivated
• Ability to partner well with each customer’s existing account manager as needed
