As a Consultant Engineer, you will be part of the Staples Digital Solutions (SDS) Financial Systems Team. We are looking for an outstanding individual who will join the team to support existing enterprise applications such as (Payment gateway, tax, coupon, fraud services) We are looking for someone who is an independent thinker and has the ability to function on his/her own. The candidate should have very strong technical skills with aptitude for solving operational problems.

  • Accountable to achieve exceptional service and support of all financial software applications and systems including root cause identification and solution recommendation.
  • Ensures all areas of responsibility are fully operational, maintaining stability, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Ability to work closely with onshore and offshore teams.
  • Provide proactive Monitoring and creating run book automation.
  • Ability to evaluate and conduct PoCs on new tools and technologies.
  • Provide innovative solutions for process improvements.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
  • Hands on experience working with Linux, Windows and iSeries.
  • Hands on experience in building J2ee applications using Spring, SpringBoot framework
  • Hands on experience working with Monitoring tools like HP-Operations Manager, Splunk or similar.
  • Experience in migrating legacy applications to cloud infrastructure (in-house Cloud, AWS or Azure)
  • Actively participate in the definition, design, development, testing, support and implementation of software functionalities
  • Interact with engineers and other cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Release Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data Science, Data Security or Operations, to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability and security 
  • Participate in projects as a member of an Agile/Scrum team including: project estimation, task creation and driving to complete tasks in each sprint in a timely manner 
  • Ensuring applications, networks, systems and cloud services are planned, designed, developed, implemented, and monitored in accordance with PCI DSS compliance and PII standards.



Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical field or equivalent
  • 8-10 years+ of relevant experience in any combination of roles: technical operations, software development, software development support, system engineer
  • Strong analytical skills that include the ability to collect and interpret system performance data including incident and change ticket data analysis for identifying trends and recommending actions
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into high-level designs and act as a subject matter expert in software design, implementation, deployment, and support across our full platform
  • Deep understanding of PKI, RSA security, Data power appliances
  • Deep understanding of XML, JSON, SOAP
  • Knowledge of multithreading, socket programming

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders
  • Good team player, very organized
