Senior Software Engineer - Retail Applications - .NET

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of several Staples business processes and system environment.
  • Create or modify complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where efficiency, performance and reliability are critical.
  • Design, develop, test and implement software functionality in accordance with Staples' SDLC.
  • Test, implement and maintain technical upgrades.
  • Monitor the use and performance of systems.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the usage of application platforms and components within the Staples system environment.
  • Create and evolve application documentation.
  • Identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software.
  • Consult with IT staff and users on technical issues relating to systems.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party partners to implement systemic solutions.
  • Compliance with IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.




·        Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience

·        3- 5 years of .Net applications development experience including full SDLC experience  



  • Experience developing Web (ASP .Net) and Windows application using Microsoft .NET Framework
  • Experience implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to support Distributed systems
  • Experience working with MVC, LINQ, XML, JavaScript¸ JQuery, SOAP over HTTP, MQ technologies
  • Experience developing and working with web services and WCF services
  • Experience developing applications with relational database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server) and reporting using SSRS
  • Experience working in virtualized computing environments
  • Strong coordination and planning skills
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors
  • Experience working directly with non-IT business partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills
  • Self-driven, able to work independently or within a team setting
  • Results oriented and adaptable
