DescriptionJob Summary

The role of the IT Manager Data Services is to manage a group of analysts and developers in building and maintaining the Company’s databases, data feeds and their integrations to other applications.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the accomplishment of defined goals and operating objectives of the department.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates on goals and objectives. Provides clear, effective, timely and constructive feedback to employees, peers and superiors.
  • Provides work developmental opportunities and assignments for subordinates.
  • Hires, reviews, schedules, and provide support to its direct report. 
  • Manages all activities of the department. Participates in planning meetings for IS development.
  • Responsible for preparing departmental budget and managing within those guidelines.
  • Present system solutions to various levels of management.
  • Develops and implements process improvements to improve the quality, quantity and timeliness of assigned tasks.
  • Assure high-quality software releases and IS-business alignment.
  • Assure application’s accessibility.
  • Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in development, design, and delivery.
  • Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support the business.
  • Collaborate with analysts/developers and business unit leaders for all projects involving Data Services.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers to select the products or services that best meet company goals.
  • Ensure a consistent look and feel across the applications by developing and promoting a uniform strategy in collaboration with marketing department.
  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize features and applications in conjunction with business leaders and department managers.

Knowledge / Skill Requirements
  • Excellent written, oral, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of database concepts and programming languages (including Oracle & MS-SQL).
  • Vast experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements in order to meet strategic goals and development efforts.
  • Project management methodology skills required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Very strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Minimum of 6 - 10 years of prior experience in business applications development
  • At least 3 - 5 years of increasingly responsible experience as a lead and management of projects to implement develop and maintain business applications

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Overtime hours as required
  • On-call availability for some days per month
  • Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort
  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities
