Position Summary

As an Account Consultant, you’ll drive incremental sales within your own book of business made up of high potential, large and mid-size Mid-Market customer accounts.  Your main goal will be to continually increase customer spend within existing and new categories (office supplies, print and marketing, technology, facilities and furniture) by partnering closely with category experts.  You’ll have defined sales growth goals with multi-level decision-makers through marketing mailer campaigns, in-person contacts, and presentations.  A typical work week will consist of office and field days, primarily face-to-face contact with your accounts, as well as coordinating and communicating with internal sales and operations teams to support and sell to your accounts. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish strong partnerships with existing high potential customers through regularly scheduled face to face meetings, driving incremental sales growth and to ensure long-term relationships and customer retention
  • Executes on short and long term strategic plans to grow sales, margin and membership program sales within an assigned book of business
  • Leverages effective partnerships with various internal partners to drive growth and ensure customer satisfaction to include but not limited to Category Sales Specialists,  Sales Operations and Customer Service
  • Use strategic selling skills to identify customer needs and develop a value added proposition, proposal & pricing; sells to multiple buyer levels from office manager to executive level
  • Prepare and execute business reviews, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually based on customer preference
  • Oversees pricing negotiations and influences on the spot pricing decisions in order to cultivate a seamless customer experience and to align with strategically growing profitable accounts
  • Manage pipeline to uncover opportunities and convert wins, including appointment setting for customers
  • Responsible for setting your schedule and maintaining calendar of appointments with customers
  • Responsible for participating in all Company objectives and Team activities
  • Special projects as requested

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • 2+ years business to business experience in a selling environment
  • Experience using technology – laptop, tablet, smart phone
  • Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills; active listener 
  • Experience building customer relationships
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Reliable transportation and ability to visit multiple customers in person each week; Ability to lift and carry 5 pounds and more

  • Account management experience preferred
  • Solution oriented, self-starter and results oriented
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed incremental sales and gross profit goals - growing sales and margin within current customer base
