Position Summary

The Staples Technical Sales Program Manager will collaborate in a joint sales motion and provide technical leadership with our Mid-Market, Commercial, Business Development Directors and Strategic Account Managers to drive and penetrate Hewlett Packard Personal Systems (HP PPS) sales into our current customer base. This is a customer facing role that is expected to interact with our customers at the highest level of IT including “C” level within a wide range of very technical discussion and solution offers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Drive sales for the HP PC product category including Desktops, Notebooks, Workstations, Thin Clients and Tablets
  • Solutions Architecture, prepare and present complex hardware/software/services solutions to Staples customers
  • Provide technical sales leadership on key sales opportunities including on-site customer meetings as needed
  • Promote and educate client Customers on HP products, services, sales/marketing initiatives at the highest levels
  • Conduct technical Roadmap discussions with customers
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to Staples Sales Teams on client opportunities including assisting with training on new products/services
  • Attend HP PC Training to keep skills and Professional Certifications current
  • Deliver program updates to partners, and support partner events such as floor, blitz days, and focus weeks and train the trainers events
  • Host partner and customer webinars and trainings as needed
  • Works with Product Development team to rollout and support new products and services with customers and the Staples sales team.
  • Provides valuable and timely consultation and information on HP Products Strategy and field engagements
  • Prepares analysis to provide comprehensive information related field activity with HP
  • Provides guidance to sales leadership on this subject matter



  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 6-8 years’ experience Supporting Customer engagement as a Technical Sales Engineer/Sales resource
  • 10+ years’ experience selling client computing technology and peripherals to customers at the administrative, management, and sr. management level
  • Direct Account management experience selling PC technology to corporate, commercial and mid-market customers
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com
  • Resourceful and able to work independently
  • Knowledge of HP and Distributor systems and programs that support HP computing
  • Relationships with HP Key Supplier personnel
  • Ability to develop winning proposals, collect and analyze data, support and conduct client business reviews that lead to customer retention and profitable sales growth
  • High Level skills in Excel, PowerPoint


  • High Level skills in Microsoft Access
  • SQL, Basic coding and programming skills
